They Remembered The Caviar, But Not The Chains

This message was preached by Pastor Chuck Baldwin on Sunday, August 9, 2020, during the service at Liberty Fellowship.

Scripture Text: Numbers 11:1 - 10

After being miraculously delivered from Egyptian bondage by God and His servant Moses, the Israelites murmured, complained and bellyached even as God fed them with manna from Heaven and directly led them through the wilderness. They even clamored for the fish they were fed while in slavery.

Amazingly, they actually lusted after safety and security. After all God had done for them, they could not trust Him. They remembered the caviar but not the chains.

Matthew Henry writes, "Peevish discontented minds will find fault with that which has no fault in it but that it is too good for them."

Indeed, manna and Freedom were too good for them, and God let them die in the wilderness because of it. America is repeating their history. We clamor for government safety and provision and seem to have no unction to live by Faith.

Daniel Webster said, “God grants liberty only to those who love it and are always ready to guard and defend it.”

In the name of safety, America is being stripped of its liberties. Craving safety is referred to as an "evil spirit" in this passage, and America is filled with it—even our churches.

Pastor Baldwin delivers a powerful and extremely relevant message. In this address, he also shares what he believes is the hidden truth about the Beirut explosion.
