The government and the country are not one and the same. The government is not the country, and the country is not the government. The whole purpose of the Bill of Rights is to protect the country from the government. Many evangelicals believe that it is their duty to be loyal to the government. This is patently false. The obligation to protest and resist unjust government is a natural right under the laws of God.
